Integrated amplifiers Looking back at the signal chain music must pass through, the next area to consider is the pre-amplifier. A stereo integrated amplifier is essentially a pre-amp and power amp in one box. A dedicated stereo amplifier will give a cleaner sound, due to it containing less electronics that can cause interference. It will have its own power supply, again giving better performance. The laws of economics also help us: Finally, for stereo sound the AV receiver will not be used at all and can be switched off, which can save electricity. Many classic integrated amplifiers also featured good phono stages, for use with a turntable. Few AV receivers include this feature, and those that do, merely provide a basic implementation. Connecting It All Up There are two ways to connect your integrated amp to your surround setup. The speakers and both amps are plugged into the switch box, which can then manually be switched either way.
There are many reasons this can happen and there are many fuses that can be blowing out. Some of these problems are outside of the amplifier and are relatively easy to hunt down. Others are inside the amplifier and cannot be seen while the amplifier is installed. However these internal problems usually show external symptoms and a knowledgeable installer or technician can make a good guess on what is wrong based on these symptoms.
For this article I’ve asked Perry Babin to explain what these common problems are for all of the fuses in a car audio amplifier installation.

Share on Facebook Take advantage of the surround-sound capabilities of your favorite movies and TV shows by purchasing a Kenwood surround-sound system. The company’s systems typically feature five surround-sound speakers, a powered subwoofer, a home-theater receiver and a DVD or Blu-ray player. A Kenwood surround-sound system can transform your living room into a home theater.
Place the Speakers Step Place the left and right front speakers next to your television set. Have at least 10 feet between them. Step Place the center channel speaker directly above or below the television. Step Place the rear channel surround-sound speakers behind and slightly above your main seating area at a degree angle. Step The subwoofer and Kenwood receiver can be placed anywhere that is convenient within the room.
It is recommended to place them near the television set. Step Connect the video output jack on the receiver with a cable leading to the video input jack on the back of the television. Step Connect the speakers systematically to the Kenwood receiver. Connect the front-channel speaker wire to the receiver, then to the receiver itself. Step Repeat this with all the speakers and subwoofer until everything is connected to the receiver.
Step Plug the Kenwood receiver into a power strip.

Feb 03, · The connection for the TS and the other Kenwood rigs is exactly the same though the TS uses a different connector the pin number are the same. I have a TSS and it uses the REMOTE connector pin 2 and pin 4 to key the amplifier so does the TS
Jun 5, Ok, I am buliding a new computer and I was planning on ordering the Klipsch Ultra speaker set. I have stereo equipment from a previous marriage just sitting in a spare bed room and I figured I might be able to put it to good use. In my previous house I had 2 different surround sound systems setup in 2 rooms.
I am not using the equipment at all right now and I was hoping it might be good for PC Audio. I see some people in the “Post Your Workstation Thread” ARE using receivers and subs for their computer audio, so I figured it might be worth asking you all about. Below are pictures of all the different receivers, speakers, subs, stands, etc.. My MAIN question is: Which equipment would you use what combination , and WHAT would be the best way to hook it up? I ordered a new Audigy2 ZS sound card, so keep that in mind when telling me how you would hook it up.
Anyway, this Receiver as far as sound quality is dominant over the Kenwood, but the Kenwood below has more features and options.
This matches the output of most preamplifiers and indicates that the SM S1 should work with the great majority of pre-amps, regardless of brand. The specs above also tell us that the THD total harmonic distortion in the audio range of , Hz is only 0. Taken as a whole, this amplifier does what I suggested a power amplifier should, which is make the input signal big enough to drive the loudspeakers without audibly changing it.
Power amps typically have few front panel controls. Some have output meters on the front panel, occasionally with an associated range knob. That is usually about the extent of power amplifier controls.
After purchasing and hooking up i took it to a competition stereo store and had them give me a db rating. db!! off of 2 12’s on a $ amp!! the owner of the store literally Sh*t himself when i showed him what i was using and how i had it hooked up. just remember 2 ohms mono!!
I tested some more. Jango was right in that it has something to do with the fm signal being muted whenever it does not receive full stereo fm. The “stereo” on the display does not light. I once managed to quickly receive stereo and I heared the sound. But, I placed the receiver on different locations and it seems that I never can receive stereo fm for any length of time, which results in the muted sound. It’s a kenwood KRA and I cannot find a “mono” button on the receiver or remote control to disable this “muting” behavior.
I think there must be something broken on the FM receiver because it never receives in stereo, although it can always receive full RDS signal and a lot of different channels. I think when it can receive full RDS for a certain channel that the reception must be good enough to also receive stereo, not?
Relax, it’s not difficult at all. Let’s start with the inputs. A balanced connection typically uses XLR connectors, which are relatively large round connectors with three pins male or three holes female in a triangular formation as shown above. This same type of cable used with professional microphones. A balanced connection reduces the risk of induced noise from power cords, radio-frequency interference RFI , and electromagnetic interference EMI. By the way, if you are going to the expense of a balanced system, make sure it is balanced throughout the amp and not just at the inputs.
A Different type of Mobile Amplifier I found these to be much more than a typical power amplifier. Although they can function as a simple power ‘In and Out’ amplifier, this is .
Unfortunately most TVs only have two speakers so you can’t take advantage of the surround sound. The solution is to connect your TV to a 5. Kenwood has been producing reliable audio receivers for years, several of which are 5. Even if your Kenwood receiver isn’t 5. Step 1 Turn off your TV and Kenwood receiver. Unplug both devices from the power outlet.
I provided some info from my notes and thought that publishing them might help. So I pulled the two pages of handwritten notes from my file cabinet that cover interfacing a TKR-n20 repeater to an external repeater controller and made a web page from them. The second pass a few months later added the TS notes.
With all the activity lately on the Shack from new members who are having difficulties hooking up the receivers properly I thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated post on how to hook.
Second, buy the vehicle integration app software to use with the Garmin app. You will need both for it to work. The second one is the same price. If by comparing it to the DDX you mean they are the same unit but one is European then I would assume it would work. You also must use the specific Kenwood ipod adpater for this to work. Travis Reply i Just bought the ddx and had it installed by an expert, pandora bluetooth works but when i plug it in to the iphone 4s i see pandora how i should see it on the radio, but i have no sound, are the settings wrong.
I realize some you may know already but need to cover all bases. You also have to open the pandora app on the phone before choosing the pandora icon on the ddx You cannot use just the typical ipod adapter you got with your phone.
Whether it’s an installation that might not have gone as planned, or a random problem that comes out of nowhere. Here is a list of your common car stereo problems, symptoms and solutions to help get your stereo up and running! Many Jeeps and Chevrolet systems have a data signal wire that carries a very low voltage signal that tells the OEM Head Unit when to turn on, however; it is not compatible with aftermarket units.

But the receiver clearly works fine, and the subwoofer is brand new. Thanks again for commenting. Without an amplifier, you could risk damaging the speakers or ipod. Hi nick, Of course, there are other new pre-amps out there but they can go up into the thousands of dollars. Kindly help me hooking up step by step. Official representatives Can you please tell me how to do this? Plug the kenwood receiver into a power strip. Where do i find if you received it? Connect the components This will have a headphone jack on one end to plug into your phone and on the other side, it will have the standard red-and-white audio plugs that go into the stereo.
Is this possible, can you suggest adapters to do this, as well as wireless speakers that would be appropriate.
